Stress! Most everyone hates it. It makes us feel physical pain like headaches, heartburn, or sleeplessness, and it brings out our worst attitudes that drive away friends and family. Prolonged stress can even create a weakened immune system, heart attacks, high blood pressure, and psychological disorders. Small doses of stress in short time frames can arguably good for you, but I think we can all agree that constantly under stress is not healthy at all.
Apparently, we might be able to eat away our stress! There are certain foods that actually help reduce our stress levels because they contain essential nutrients our bodies need to literally feel happy. Researchers note that there are some major nutrients and compounds that can help combat stress. These include protein, Omega-3s, vitamin D, B vitamins, vitamin E, and antioxidants like curcuminoids and flavonoids. Foods that contain probiotics, L-theanine, and tryptophan can help as well.

Keep in mind that too much of a good thing is still just too much. Moderation is always key and making a sustainable lifestyle change is always more effective than any binge or quick fix. We still believe that a healthy diet, keeping hydrated, and sleeping well are the biggest contributors to feeling good. It's just nice to know that we don't need to feel as guilty when we reach for a few more almonds now and then. =)
